━ 01

How I work

What's the difference between training and consultancy?

Training is about getting people useful with AI. Consultancy is about figuring out where AI fits in your business. Most clients eventually do both, in that order. Training first to build a shared vocabulary, then consultancy to put it to work.

Do you sell or recommend specific tools?

I'm not a reseller. I don't take commission from vendors. I'll recommend tools where they fit, but the recommendation is about your business, not my margin.

How is this different from just hiring a consultant?

Most AI consultants come from one of two places. Either they're technologists who've never run a business, or they're business consultants who've recently rebranded around AI. I've spent twenty-five years inside customer-focused SaaS teams actually running the kind of work I'm now advising on. That's the difference.

Are you a one-person business?

Yes. Flo HQ is me. For larger engagements I bring in a small network of trusted specialists, mostly people I've worked with for years. You'll always know who's doing what.

━ 02

The work itself

My team is nervous about AI. Will training help or make it worse?

Done badly, training makes it worse. Done well, it's the single biggest lever you have. The fear usually isn't about AI itself. It's about not understanding it, not being asked about it and not being included in the conversation. Good training fixes all three.

Do I need lots of data before AI is useful?

No. The "AI needs data" line is often a misdirection. Plenty of useful AI work needs no proprietary data at all. Where data does matter, we'll talk about it specifically, not vaguely.

How long does it take to see real results?

Training results show up the same week. Audit results inside a month. Strategy and transformation work runs longer, three to twelve months typically, because you're changing how people work, not just installing software.

Is my data safe?

Yes. I use a documented method called SANITISE for any client data I work with, and I'll talk you through it before any data changes hands. For training, no client data is ever needed.

Money

How much does it cost?

It depends on the format and scope. Workshops are priced for small groups or half-day team sessions; consultancy runs on a day rate or as fixed-scope work quoted on the brief, with larger programmes scoped to the engagement. Tell me what you're after on a quick call and I'll give you a straight number.

Do you work on retainer?

Sometimes, where it fits. I prefer fixed-scope projects over open-ended retainers because the incentives are cleaner. If retainer is the right answer for your business, I'll suggest it.

Will I be locked into a long contract?

No. I don't do lock-in. Projects have clear scopes and clear endings.

Getting started

What happens on the clarity call?

We talk for 45 minutes. You tell me where you are, what's prompting the conversation and what you've already tried. I'll tell you honestly whether I can help, what I'd recommend and what it might cost. No pitch deck, no follow-up sales sequence. If I can't help, I'll usually know someone who can.

What if I just want to ask a quick question?

Email me. richard@flohq.ai. I read everything that comes in and reply to most of it.
